Memories in the Movies

Here I am on Good Morning Texas for those who are interested. Click on the picture for the video. It was a fun experience- fast and furious. We are so thankful that we got to go on and share our story! Our favorite part was seeing Lexa on the big screen. I know she is so proud of that! It was exhilarating to see our girl on TV- to share her with so many thousands of people and to spread her cause so that many MORE chidren will benefit.
*****
You know in movies, when they show someone look at something and then it flashes back to the past and they picture a memory right before their eyes before snapping back to reality? I always thought that was just a clever way to show someone remembering, but ever since Alexa left us, I do that.
I look outside her window and see snow on the ground and her and I sledding down the hill on a piece of cardboard laughing together.
I look at the kitchen table and see her sitting there with all her paint stuff making us a picture to hang on the wall.
I touch a necklace and see her standing at my jewelry box deciding what she wants to wear of mine that day to match her outfit.
The other day at school, I was in the cafeteria monitoring the kids and a little girl walked by me. She was the height Alexa should be, the same age too. She didn't look anything like her, but it made me think of my girl. I thought- that should be Alexa with a backpack on in Kindergarten. And for a while I was lost in a memory of my daughter- going to pick her up from school. She ran up to me with a huge smile on and yelling, "Mommy! I made green choices!" I picked her up and spun her around and told her how proud I was of her. Then I put her down, kneeled down to her level and asked her about her day.
I snapped back to the now and saw a little boy who needed me to open his chocolate milk and off I was again into my day of taking care of kids. I think without my job life would be much harder. I love being around these kids every day and in so many ways being a mother to them all.

The GMT segment was awesome . . . you did great! I hope it brings in more awareness for the kiddos and families . . . and more goodies for the PAF is always a bonus. ;~)

Love and blessings!

I do not know you. I came across Alexa's story by pure accident when I was looking up a video on youtube about my friend Alexa and I saw Alexa's memorial video. I have been following your story now for the last 6 months or so. I just wanted to tell you that I think you are a very strong woman who is doing something great with the memory of her daughter. God Bless you and all of the work you are doing.

You speak with such grace. What an awesome segment in honor of your sweet girl, and what an amazing person you truly are.

I am sure your precious kiddos are so darn proud of their Momma.

Great job on the TV segment! By the way, you were having a great hair day!

I frequently picture Alexa along side my son, being the same size, doing the same things at the same age.

I hate that you're without your Lex but I'm so glad your memories are strong.

hi Crys... I know I told you before about this http://ourrainbowafterthestorm.blogspot.com/ story. Poor beautiful girl is having people make her feel like just because she is pregnant it cancels out that fact that three of her babies have passed away before she got to mother them... but it in no way has changed that they ARE her children. My heart goes out to her and you, and I know that people mean well, sometimes we just need to think about it before we say anything ;) Maybe you can offer her words of comfort. Oh and amazing what you are doing in memory of Alexa, she lives through her mommmy... and she is so beautiful!!

Crys,
you look so awesome and natural on TV. You should consider a career as a reporter or talk show host! I know you will get lots of publicity and costumes from this appearance. good for you! Well done. what a great cause...
